The Lake Erie Steelworker's Action Center is a FREE SERVICE.
The Center is staffed by trained volunteers that are ready to help you take the next step in your search for suitable employment.
The Action Center is going to be running another First Aid/CPR course soon. If you are interested please call the Action Center asap so we can establish numbers.
Free courses
They offer courses in Math and readding as well as real life learning. Finances, computer traing and 'everyday life' are just a few of the catagories that they offer. Please visit the site.
Oh, by the way; did we mention they are free and you do them at your own pase?
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - COUNSELING AVAILABLE
If you are having difficulty and need someone to talk to there is a FREE Confidential Counsellor available to all members of Local 8782 and their families. Please contact Ed Nametka at 519 - 718 - 0555 to set up an appointment.
This program is still being offered for laid off employees. Anyone who has already started seeing Mr Nametka will be able to work through a transition period.

Need drug coverage?
With the lockout at US Steel and Multiserv most (if not all) of us no longer have drug coverage. There is a government program in place to help people who are without a drug plan. The Trillium Drug Program may work for you, but you will need to apply now as the proccess can take a bit.
The link below is to the Trillium web site. Download the application, fill it out and send it in. If you want/need help with that please come on by the Action Center.

Spouses T4 (if applicable)
EI Information (from Service Canada Website)
Record of Employment (R.O.E.) (from Service Canada Website)
Letter from Company stating you are locked out and don't have EI Information (don't wait for it)
Trillium Drug Benefits Application Form (in this package or from Web)
Letter requesting use of this years information not last years (form letter included)
If on lock out and are collecting Strike Pay - Letter from Union saying how much strike pay is and how often you are paid
